GVM has gathered twelve notions/statements from different stakeholders/ parties/ participants/ players as part of the project “Life Cycle Assessment for Optimization Potential of Beverage Packaging” from the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA). We are grateful for the diverse and profound contributions to the discussion and will examine them in detail together with other project partners.
GVM discussed in three workshops with industry experts the approach to determine recycling quotas according to the new specifications of the EU Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/665. GVM would like to thank all participants for the numerous comments and explanations.

The food magazine LZ – Lebensmittelzeitung publishes the specialist article “Saving potential lies idle in packaging design” by Nicolas Cayé (GVM) and Benedikt Kauertz (ifeu Institute) on the potential saving in oversized packaging
44,000 tons of packaging material could be saved if oversized packaging and unnecessary additional packaging were avoided. This is the result of a study conducted by GVM and the IFEU Institute and was recently published by the Federation of German Consumer Organizations. The report of the study can be downloaded here.
